Requirements for first-time applicants

  • A duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices
  • Original Birth Certificate and a copy for citizens of Kenya by birth
  • Certificate of Registration for citizens of Kenya by registration
  • Original applicant’s national identity card and a copy for adults
  • Copy of the recommenders national identity card
  • Duly filled Consent Form for minors
  • Copies of parents’ national identity cards/ Death certificates, where applicable
  • Original and Copies of parents’ birth certificates
  • And any other additional documentation as may be required
  • Payment of the prescribed fee

For a dual citizen in Kenya

  • A printed online application form 3 (Print the form after completing your application)
  • Two passport-size photographs
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • A copy of the Kenyan Passport
  • Copy of Kenyan identity card
  • A copy of the other country’s Passport
  • Copy of the other country’s Citizenship certificate
  • Copy of the Police Clearance Certificate

Requirements for a minor in Kenya

  • A printed online application form 11 (Print the form after completing your application)
  • 2 passport-size photographs.
  • Copy of birth certificate or local adoption certificate.
  • A copy of the parent’s Kenyan Passport and Certificate of Registration.
  • Copy of dependants pass.
  • Copy of parent’s identity card.

Requirements for replacing a lost passport

  • A duly filled application Form 19 and 2 payment invoices
  • Original ID and a copy for Adults
  • Personal Statement explaining circumstances for the damage
  • Sworn Affidavit to support (iii) above
  • Police Abstract for loss of Passport
  • Copy of the lost passport bio-data page, if available
  • Payment of the prescribed fee of Ksh.12,050

Passport applications without complete requirements will not be processed.

Please ensure all the requirements are met.

You must bring your original Kenyan Birth Certificate, parent’s Identity Card, and Passport that is being replaced. Copies will not suffice.

  • The waiting period is approximately six weeks.
  • Dual Citizens must declare their other nationality before renewing Kenya passports.
  • Those required to apply to regain Kenya citizenship are expected to await completion of the regaining process.
  • Use clear photos with all facial features clearly outlined against a white background without shadows in the background.
  • The photo should be decent & not include spectacles. The face should be 2.5 by 2 inches.

Requirements for a name change on Passport

  1. Submit online application on;
  2. Ecitizen pre-filled passport application Form and two payment receipts;
  3. Original and a copy of Kenyan birth certificate;
  4. An Original Kenya National ID card and a copy of Kenyan ID;
  5. Original Passport and a copy (Bio Data Page) of Passport
  6. In the case of marriage, the original and copy of the marriage certificate (Must be translated into English and certified);
  7. In the case of an applicant who is adopted, the original adoption certificate issued by the Government of Kenya, a clearance letter from the Children’s Department, and a Court ruling or Award are required;
  8. Change of Name through Deed Poll, one must have a copy of the deed poll and the Kenya Gazette Notice;
  9. Original Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by Registration and a copy of the front and back page.
  10. Two recent passport-sized photographs on a white background (2 by 2 inches). The photo should be taken without spectacles or earings, and both ears should be visible; hence no hair on the forehead.
