Private Nursing Schools in Kenya Accreditation

The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) regulates the nursing profession in Kenya, established in 1983 through an Act of Parliament called the Nurses Act Cap 257. This act also gave NCK the mandate to regulate nursing & midwifery education, another one of its responsibilities.

Part of the mandate of the NCK is to accredit nursing and midwifery programmes offered by various training institutions. So far, the NCK has approved 134 (Gok and Private) nursing and midwifery training institutions.

It is, therefore, important for students intending to pursue a career in nursing to make sure that they attend an institution that the NCK has approved. In addition, the programme of study should also be accredited by the council.

If either is not approved, the student will not be recognized as a nurse or midwife upon completing their training.

Training institutions must undergo an accreditation process to ensure that their programmes meet quality standards.

The accreditation process evaluates how well a programme meets best practices and standards. This process is necessary to ensure students receive a quality education for their chosen profession.

The NCK handles complaints or reports about illegal institutions or programmes in Kenya. It is a criminal offence for someone to operate an illegal institution or offer an illegal programme.

All of the schools on this list have excellent academic reputations. They are known for their high-quality programs and rigorous coursework. If you are looking for an excellent education in nursing, then any of these schools would be a great choice!
